SelahBerma a.k.a AdiBaritoner is a musician, song
writer, composer, poet, entertainer full of energy, designer and a video
director in the making. Born Eric Kwame Addae Mawuli, in Tema, raised
in Ashaiman, with beloved parents Mr. and Mrs. Addae. As a teenager,
Selah starting out rapping and dancing, thus going the Hip/Pop way
(genre) loved listening to artistes such as Tupac Shakur, Notorious BIG,
Nas, Jay Z, Jah Rule, Prodigy, Moob deep, DMX, Timberland and Magoo,
Fat Joe and many other great artiste of the time.
Reggae Music has been the root of SelahBerma all along
from listening to Artiste such as The Great Bob Marley, Peter Tosh,
Jimmy Cliff, Joseph Hill(Culture ) Senzo, Gregory Isaac, Steel Pulse,
Burning Spear, to name a few. As an Hip/Pop recording artiste friends
would give Selah many names due to his raw energetic delivery. After
hearing himself on tapes, gave SelahBerma his "Ah Hah!!" moment, to take
his craft seriously. From day to day rehearsals , going to the beach,
attending concerts and even blessing the mic, grew his confidence one
lyrical jab at a time.
As his talent grew Selah befriend a group of
Rastafarians who were musicians themselves and designers as well.
SelahBerma explored deeper in Rastafarianism which came natural to him
because of his roots. Educating him futher in music and life in general
with biblical lessons for guidance. Enter his interest in Reggae
Music, introducing him to various styles like Ragamuffin and
Dancehall, with inspiration from Buju Banton, Chaka demus andpliers,
Spragga Benz, Bounty killer, Capleton, Sizzla, Antony B,Morgan Heritage,
Sean Paul, Shaggy and many others, continuously developing a great
feel and taste for the genre.
Facing the struggles of life, rasied by a single
parent, Selah resulted to hustling to make ends meat due to, a corrupt
system and low standard of living. What don't kill you make you
stronger, literally, in Selah's case. His hardship helped in nurturing
his art and skills to become a serious and well groomed Dancehall
Artiste which is now his career. SelahBerma now dedicates his life to
the art and lifestyle with the determination to make it as a successful
musician around the world.
With his relentless attitude and
lazer-beam focuse, caught the eye and ears of Dark Alley Music Group
CEO, Calvin "BigBossCD", who wasted no time making SelahBerma part of
the "Royal Family" right from the start. Having no regrets, being a
musician, Selah is currently recording mixtapes on Jamaican Riddims and
locally produced tracks from other engineers in Ghana as well as
American Hip/Pop tracks. SelahBerma has grown to be one of
the best talents coming out of Ghana, West Africa.
